We want to Thank everyone so much for all the cards, gifts and meals in celebration of Evangeline’s birth. We really appreciate your thoughtfulness and we are so blessed with such a wonderful church family. A special thanks to June Donna, Kathy and Betty for throwing the Dollars for Diapers for Evangeline. Pastor Mark, Cara Ella, Noelle & Evangeline.

 

The 5th Sunday offering for improvements was $ 450.30.

 

The offering for Journey Bound Quartet was $ 600.00.

 

Church Picnic- Wednesday, September 8th at 6:00 p.m. at the ball park (weather permitting). Meat, drink and table service will be provided. Please bring a covered dish of salad, vegetable or a dessert.  Plan now to attend for an evening of food, fun and fellowship.

 

It is time once again to get your voices in shape for Sr. Choir. We begin our practice on Wednesday, September 8 following the church picnic. Practice will begin around 7:30 or 8:00 depending on the time of the picnic. We will be singing for the first time this season on Sunday, September 12, so we will only have one practice before we sing. If you would like to help the choir lead the people of Ebenezer in worship then give the choir a try.

 

Leighton Lions Club blood drive is Monday, Sept. 13, 3-7 p.m. at Leighton CRC. Contact Gary Vandenberg @780-0694 to schedule an appointment.

 

GEMS kick-off will be Wednesday, September 15, 2010.

September 17, 2010 Bible League International Volunteers’ Retreat at Third Reformed Church in Pella. All men are invited to attend the evening banquet and concert featuring Russ Stravers. Registration deadline is September 8.  For registration information contact Betty Van Maanen at 628-1672.

 

Bible League will be mending Bibles in Pella at the Open Bible Activity Center on West 1st ST., September 20, at 1:30 p.m. Please come help us and bring your used Bibles.

 

Coming on October 6 & 7, an event presented by the Vermeer Leadership Allliance. A weekend event for those interested in the future of the church. Guest speaker is Kara Powell. She will be speaking on “ Sticky Faith: Building a Faith That Lasts” and “Sticky Faith:Fundamentals, Church, Justice and Families. Friday night is free and open to the public, Saturday’s event requires a $25.00 registration fee due before Oct 1. October 10, 2010, Pella Opera House, 2:30 p.m., a Variety Concert with featured guests, Hart and Soul, the Boerefyn Sisters, Laurinda Nikkel and David Folkerts. This will be a benefit for the Jan Nikkel Music Scholarship Fund, a fund to give college scholarships to Pella Christian graduates majoring in music. A Special little person joined the Jicinsky family on June 22, 2010. After the morning service we will have a Special time to Welcome and celebrate the addition of Evangeline Faith. Refreshments will be served during this fellowship time, and DOLLARS FOR DIAPERS gifts will be accepted for those wanting to contribute. Please join us for this celebration.

We are excited to have the Journey Bound Quartet share their music with us this afternoon at 1:30 p.m. For over 15 years, Journey Bound Quartet has been brining southern gospel music to audiences around the upper Midwest. Their ministry in music has been used by God to bring the message of salvation to the lost and to bring encouragement, hope and inspiration to thousand of Christians who love the Lord and desire to live more fully to His Glory. Please join us this afternoon in the worship and praise service presented by Journey Bound Quartet, A freewill offering will be received for the Quartet.

 

Leighton GEMS and Cadets are looking for leaders willing to be counselors for the 2010-2011 season. We meet on Wednesday nights from 6:30-8:00 p.m. The season runs from September – March. Join us for an evening filled with delicious food(provided by Bonnie and crew from PCHS) fellowship and great music on Thursday, Sept. 2 at Pella Christian High School. This special evening has been planned by family and friends to assist Jeremy & Sarah Hartson in raising the substantial funding needed for the adoption of their child from Ethiopia. A spaghetti supper will be served from 5:30-7:00, with musical entertainment provided by Jeremy and “Friends” from 6:30-8:00 p.m. A fabulous variety of items will also be raffled off during the event. Plan to come and partner with the Hartson’s on this exciting and faith-filled mission while enjoying great food, fun and fellowship. “Meals From The Heartland” is asking for your help in packaging meals for families dealing with severe poverty in Haiti and South Africa. This will take place at Hy-Vee Hall on September 2-5. If you would like to be a part of a team from ERC contact Donna Bogaard.  Also, there is a challenge to all High School students to participate on September 2, this night has been set aside just for High School students. Last year they had 700 students participate, this year they would like to have 1000 students volunteer.
